Why MyWeb Tools exists

MyWeb Tools started from a simple frustration: the everyday utilities most of us reach for — a quick IP check, a currency conversion, a QR code, an image conversion — are scattered across dozens of ad-heavy, sign-up-gated, slow websites that quietly track everything you do. We set out to build one calm, fast, multilingual home for the small tasks that fill a working day. The project is maintained by a single developer who uses these tools daily, so every detail is shaped by real need rather than growth metrics.

Privacy is not a setting we bolted on — it is the starting point. Wherever possible, work happens directly in your browser: images are converted locally, text never leaves your device, and files are processed in memory and discarded. The third-party scripts that do run, such as privacy-friendly analytics and advertising, load only after you give explicit consent through our GDPR-compliant banner. Until then, nothing fires. No fingerprinting, no shadow profiles, no data sold downstream.

The web is not English by default. MyWeb Tools is published in six languages — English, Español, Português, Français, Italiano and Deutsch — with every tool, every help text, and every FAQ translated by hand rather than machine. A visitor in Madrid, São Paulo, Paris, Milan or Berlin gets a native experience with localized URLs and locale-aware formatting, because a tool you cannot read is a tool you cannot use.

Security follows the same principle of least exposure. Sensitive operations run server-side only when there is no browser-side alternative, and even then they are rate-limited, input-validated, and wrapped in row-level database controls. We never store the files you convert, the links you shorten carry no personal identifiers, and your IP address is hashed before it touches any analytics. The result is a toolset that respects data-residency expectations across the EU and beyond.

The collection is deliberately focused: nine tools, each doing one job well. Look up your public IP and approximate location, test your internet speed, convert between major currencies at live rates, shorten long links, generate QR codes, switch image formats, combine images into a single PDF, transform and count text, and compare the time across world cities. No bloat, no upsells, no "premium" tier hiding the button you actually want.

MyWeb Tools is free, and it will stay free. The site is funded through clearly-disclosed, consent-gated advertising and a small number of selected affiliate partnerships — never by selling user data, and never by charging for the tools themselves. We publish an ads.txt file and an affiliate disclosure so the funding model is in the open. If you find the tools useful, the best way to support the project is simply to use them, share them, and tell us what to build next.

Accessibility and performance are treated as features, not afterthoughts. Every tool is keyboard-navigable, color contrast is checked against WCAG guidelines, and pages are built to load fast on a slow mobile connection — no megabytes of JavaScript, no autoplaying video, no consent wall that blocks you from the task you came for. We iterate openly, too. When a translation reads awkwardly, when a tool misses a common use case, or when something breaks, the people who write in get a real reply from the developer who wrote the code, and the next build ships the fix. The roadmap is public and modest: refine the nine tools already here, deepen language coverage, and keep the promise that nothing you type into these pages ever becomes someone else's data. The tools improve precisely because the people who use them tell us how.
